Philippines Churches

Pusok church on Mactan Island.

This is the “Mother Church” that Pastor Tim and Lynlyn started some 10 years ago. It is a small but strong church which is very mission minded and strongly supports church planting as a way of reaching the lost and also supports very practically with their giving and serving in many outreach ministries.

This church is run by Tim del Monte and his wife Lynlyn and a team of very committed ministry workers.

Cordova Church on Mactan Island.

This was the first church planted under the “ Church Planting Vision” that Tim proposed back in 2013. This church is in a very poor area in the south of the Island but has a strong and faithful congregation. They have a useable building on their own piece of land and are slowly completing the building as resources become available. Currently the church is under Tim’s oversight and they have a young pastor helping out as well as a very committed elder and a wonderful, strong serving family who serve the church and it’s people in an amazing way. It has been wonderful to see the growth here over the years of visiting.

Olango Church on Olango Island.

Olango island is just a few kilometres from Mactan island but is still very undeveloped with many people living in small fishing villages around the coast. The UN classes many of these villages as being “Ultra Poor” An outreach was started here in 2016 and grew quickly. They now hold regular Sunday services and a midweek outreach. The work is led by Elmer and his wife Bebing.

Panganan Church on Panganan Island.

A further outreach was started on a small island of the southern tip of Olango island in 2017. Panganan Island is surrounded by a coral reef and is also home to a number of villages where most of the people have a subsistence lifestyle focussed on fishing and collecting shellfish for food and to sell the shells. The people are very poor but are enthusiastic and strongly support the growing church. There is a key family on the Island who host the church gathering and are natural leaders in the community. The work is overseen by Pastor Rico and the key family – Jason and his wife Bilya. Bilya’s daughter is very involved in the children’s ministry which is large!

Buyong Church on Mactan Island

Buyong is an older established church on Mactan Island which was pastored by Tim’s father. He was also a church planter and was responsible for a number of churches on Cebu island. Tim along with a number of Seminary (Bible College) students is currently overseeing this church as well. They have over the last 2 years become more and more involved and supportive of the mission work. Many of the current ministry workers involved in the church plants have actually come from Buyong Church.

There are also church plants which are now supported by other churches and organisations which we have visited and encouraged over the years with personal support and visits on our mission trips.
